Basics (LQP V1)

Lesson 1: Basics

The song “Lo que pasó, pasó” only has one verse to it, but in this unit we divide this verse into four parts: 1,2,3 and 4.  Each of those parts is then divided into six lines of 4 or 6 syllables.  By dividing the lines into such smaller chunks, it makes it much easier to memorize.  Making the process easier is important, since this song is fast and you will be saying many more syllables per second than in all of the previous songs.

As was the case in “Pies Descalzos,” the rhythm is a straightforward alternation of stressed (DA) and unstressed (di) syllables.  So the difficulty is not in the rhythm but rather in the syllables themselves and the accurate articulation and memorization of them.  For this reason, there will be no rhythm review in this unit.  Proceed straight to the syllables below.
